Leave a legacy gift

Build the highway long after you've crossed the finish line.

"Then they that feared the Lord spake often one to another: and the Lord hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before Him."
Malachi 3:16

Why a legacy gift?

For some of our partners, the most meaningful gift they can make to SOLU is one they make through their estate. Bequests, beneficiary designations, charitable trusts — these gifts let you continue to send the team to the next city, fund the prayer room, and prepare the way long after the Lord calls you home.

Research from Giving USA shows that the average planned gift is 2.74× the donor's total annual lifetime giving to that charity. A legacy gift is often the single largest contribution a person makes — and one of the simplest to set up.

Types of legacy gifts

Bequest in your will — Add a single sentence to your will or living trust naming SOLU Israel as a recipient of a fixed amount, a percentage of your estate, or what remains after other bequests are honored. This is the most common form of planned giving and the easiest to update if circumstances change.

Beneficiary designation — Name SOLU Israel as a beneficiary on a retirement account (IRA, 401(k)), life insurance policy, or donor-advised fund. You update the beneficiary form directly with the account custodian; nothing in your will needs to change. For retirement accounts especially, this is highly tax-efficient — heirs would owe income tax on the same dollars; SOLU as a 501(c)(3) does not.

Charitable remainder trust or charitable gift annuity — More structured arrangements that pay you (or a loved one) income for life, with the remainder going to SOLU. Best discussed with your estate attorney; we're happy to work alongside them.

Real estate, business interests, or other complex assets — These require advance coordination but are often deeply tax-efficient. Email us early in your planning.

Suggested bequest language

For a will or living trust, you can use language like:

"I give to SOLU Israel, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN 87-4824515) currently located at 4205 Brigstock Ct, Williamsburg, VA 23188, [the sum of $____ / ____ percent of my residuary estate / specific asset], to be used for its general charitable purposes."

You may also designate a specific fund (Worship School Scholarships, Staff Support, Out of Zion Tour) by adding "to be used for [fund name]" at the end. Your estate attorney will adapt this to fit your jurisdiction and circumstances.

For Israeli donors, gifts may be made directly to our amutah (registered 580739654) — please consult your Israeli attorney for the appropriate language.

Tell us — so we can thank you

You're not obligated to tell us about a planned gift. But if you're comfortable letting us know, we'd love to thank you while you're still with us, invite you to the annual Highway Partners prayer call, and keep you close to the family. Your information stays confidential; you can change your mind any time.

Email Shilo at hello@soluisrael.org or use the contact form. There's no minimum to qualify, no recognition you have to accept, and no follow-up sales pressure. Just gratitude.
